How to Write a Long Obituary: A Template

If you are writing an obituary for someone who is deceased, start by describing the person’s life. Include basic information about their families, such as their parents’ names and birth dates, siblings’ names and birth dates, children’s names and birth dates, and any other relatives. Next, describe the person’s death. Include the date, time of death, and location. If you know any additional information, such as the cause of death, include that as well. Next, provide information about the person’s loved ones.

The person’s mother will be given the last name first, followed by the first name. The residence is not important but should be included if known. The brief description will be a few sentences that give a little more information about the person. The full date of death will be followed by a brief obituary, which will be the same as the one below. The life short will be just a few sentences that give a brief overview of the person’s life. The life template will be a more detailed explanation of the person’s life.
