Eulogy for Brother from Sister

Growing up with my brother was wonderful. When I would pretend to be sick so that I could stay home from school, he would always play fight with me and we would play games together. He could never tell me no. He would cook me egg sandwiches in the morning and let me wear his clothes. I’m such a girly girl a lot of you might not be able to imagine me in boys clothing, but I used to always wear my brother’s shirts. He never seemed to mind. I would simply go through his drawers, pick out the shirt I was wearing that day and when he would see me later he would just look at me and shake his head with a slight smile.

My brother was sweet like that. He never seemed to mind anything. Henry wasn’t like that with just me; he was like that with everyone. While he was an amazing brother to me, he was an amazing father to his four beautiful children. When they wanted to play with his tools, he would oblige and then simply shake his head with that same smile as the baby would bang a wrench on the garage floor. He never seemed to mind when the kids got rowdy or liked to play with everything he owned. Henry was patient like that.

Henry was many things in addition to being sweet and patient. He was a magnificent husband to his dear wife, Violet. He was a dear uncle to my children, and to his other nieces and nephews.

Henry was a hard worker, sometimes working seven days a week while going to school. After he graduated from college, his thirst for knowledge never seemed to be fulfilled as he continued to read books on educational topics. He loved to read since he was a child.

Henry and his sweet quiet nature will be missed. Henry was too sweet to go so soon, but it was his time to go. He was a religious man, and believed that God had a plan for everyone from the time that they were born.

He also believed that when a person passed away, it was simply a part of God’s plan. I take comfort in knowing that he is heaven now with our Lord and Savior, and that it was simply a part of God’s plan for Henry, and I hope that you do as well. Thank you.
